Dan Gilbert did nothing to help the people of Weston during Irene. Almost everyone suffered from a multi-day power blackout -- some up to 7+ days. Being dependent on wells, people were unable to shower. Food spoiled in powerless refrigerators, and many people were also without telephone service. Gayle Weinstein organized a comfort station at the Middle School. Members of the Democratic Town Committee stood host over the charging station and the entrance to the showers for people who had no power. Where was Dan Gilbert? We are told he was in Europe. Did he return to fulfill his responsibilities as a Selectman during a crisis? NO! Gayle Weinstein was calling CL&P many times a day to request crews to restore power. What did the Republicans do? Complain, but do nothing to help. Did Dan Gilbert appoint someone as his proxy to fulfill his responsibilities as a Selectman during Irene? NO! Should we vote for Dan Gilbert for First Selectman? NO!
