WESTON, Conn. – It looks like the recent acquisition of two military vehicles by the Police Department will not be discussed at Thursday’s meeting of the Weston Board of Selectmen.
The 1992 and 1994 Hummers were picked up by the department under an agreement with the U.S. Law Enforcement Support Office, which “leases” used military vehicles to police agencies. The move angered First Selectman Gayle Weinstein, who said she should have been notified beforehand.
The item was scheduled for discussion by the selectmen on the agenda posted Wednesday afternoon, but it was quickly removed. When asked about the change, Weinstein said, “because it is going to be discussed at the next Police Commission meeting on Feb. 7.”

Must be April 1st. Seriously? These are not "Hummers" which West Coast rap stars seem to like to drive around, but HMMWV "Humvees", military vehicles. I think they were designed as High Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle to combat the threat of Russian Motorized units in the late 1970's. Why would the town need them, except to defend against an invasion from Canada?
Can we get a submarine for Bisceglie pond? A battleship for Saugatauk reservoir?
